The Burlington Partnership regularly uses our partners, local media, online resources, promotional giveaways and community meetings and events to raise community awareness and promote healthy and safe behavior related to alcohol, drugs and tobacco use.

Some of the following campaigns our coalition staff and members created and implemented on their own with the support of our partners and consultants, some we promote in collaboration with the VT Department of Health

      • UMatter Suicide Prevention Campaign
Center for Health and Learning is pleased to announce the launch of the youth suicide prevention website for youth. On the site, there are three calls to action; "think you need help?" worried about someone?" "want to feel better?" The website offers support through stories and videos, plus interactive quizzes with feedback.

      • Above the Influence
This site, the Above the Influence commercials, and all other Above the Influence you see are created for the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, a program of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. This campaign is inspired by what teens have told them about their lives, and how they deal with the influences that shape their decisions. The Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community is working with Above the Influence to bring the campaign messages to Burlington teens to help support them to understand their world and how to make healthy decisions. The goal is the help teens stand up to negative pressures or influences. The more aware you are of the influences around you, the better prepared you will be to face them, including the pressure to use drugs, pills or alcohol. Check back soon on the Burlington Partnership Facebook page for pictures of how we worked with Burlington teens to promote ATI messaging.

      • Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet!
Each day in the US, approximately, 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time (from Partnership for a Drug Free America). Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet. Please protect yourself, loved ones and our community from drug related crime. Lock up or dispose of unused prescription medication.

      • Gut Feelings
If you tried smoking, that doesn't make you a smoker. Deep down inside, you know what to do. Listen to your gut and quit while you're ahead.

      • Parent UP
You can help prevent your child from using alcohol. It’s never too early or too late to change how your child feels about alcohol. With tools and resources, we help parents talk to their children about the dangers of underage drinking and refuse to provide alcohol to minors.

      • Smoking in the Movies
Nearly four out of five movies depict smoking – this despite the fact that tobacco companies have been banned from paid product placement in the movies for 10 years.

      • Your Quit. Your Way
Did you know that nearly all Vermonters who are trying to quit smoking are doing it on their own? Get encouragement and great tools to help right here -- with no strings attached.

      • Question the Message
" Question the Message" was designed to raise awareness in adolescents ages 12-17 about how the alcohol industry uses popular media to target youth. The goal of Question the Message is to educate youth about the ways alcohol use is portrayed in television, film and advertising, so they can be better informed, less vulnerable to influence, and able to make smarter decisions about alcohol use.

      • Smoke-Free Zone
“Smoke Free Zone” was designed to raise awareness of the harmful effects of second-hand smoke and reduce exposure, by creating more smoke free environments. The campaign hopes to increase the percentage of VT smokers with children who do not allow smoking in their home and car.

      • 8outof10
In Vermont, 8 out of 10 teenagers choose not to smoke.
