Mitchell Barron

Trained as a clinical social worker and substance abuse counselor, Mitch Barron is the Director of Centerpoint Adolescent Treatment Services, the largest provider of "integrated adolescent treatment” in Northwestern Vermont. In this role, he has been responsible for insuring the highest-quality of services and supports to meet the mental health, substance abuse, and special education needs of Vermont teens and their families. Mitch has been a practicing clinician, clinical supervisor, and administrator for the past 18 years. He trains and consults regionally and nationally on a variety of topics related to adolescent mental health and addiction. He also serves as adjunct faculty in the University of Vermont’s Counseling Program. Mitch lives with his wife and son in Hinesburg.

Mickey Wiles

Mickey Wiles is the Chief Financial Officer at Burlington Labs, a drug screening and testing company that primarily supports the substance abuse treatment community.  Prior to this, Mickey was the Executive Director of the Turning Point Center of Chittenden County, a recovery center for individuals who are in recovery from addictive behaviors primarily from alcohol and other chemical substances.  Mickey continues to serve the Turning Point Center as a Board Member and active in recovery coaching and recovery group work.  In his role, he is an advocate for recovery coaching, an innovative approach where trained peers (others in recovery) mentor others working to improve their lives while working on recovery.  He has been in recovery for twenty years and is active in the Vermont recovery community.  Mickey has three grown children and lives with his wife in Williston Vermont.

Mariah Sanderson

Mariah Sanderson has lived in Vermont all her life and in Burlington for 8 years. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 2000 with degrees in Psychology and English. She has worked in the substance abuse field for the past 10 years as a counselor, case manager and most recently as the Coordinator for the Burlington Partnership. Working with adolescents in a substance abuse rehabilitation center and with addicted and mentally ill adults in the criminal justice system Mariah saw first hand the pain and constant struggle of those who suffer with substance abuse addiction and their loved ones. She is passionate about creating a community that provides youth and adults with the skills and environment to make healthy choices. Mariah and her husband live in Essex Junction with their two young boys, Noah and Sam, and their dog Quincey. They enjoy visiting local playgrounds in the summer and sledding hills in the winter. Ryan Mitofsky came to Burlington from his home town Montpelier in 2009. He
has been involved with prevention coalitions and health promotion activities for
the past five years. He has an associates degree in Prevention and Community
Development as well as a certificate in Mediation from Woodbury College, and
a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Vermont. He worked with the Young
Adult Advisory Team to create a video called “The Truth” highlighting the causes
and consequences of substance abuse. Ryan hopes to continue contributing to and
collaborating with others to provide a safer and healthier community, especially for
young adults. In his spare time he enjoys learning new things and being a bit of a
geek.

Helena Van Voorst grew up in Ferrisburgh, VT and currently lives in Vergennes, a little city south of Burlington she likes to call "postcard worthy."  She attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA where she studied Communication with emphases on Public Relations and Human Resources.  In 2004, she answered the call of Vermont's mountains, trees, and lakes and returned home.  She has worked in fundraising for over 7 years, raising money and support for two Vermont non-profits before joining the Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community. In 2009, Helena and her husband welcomed a baby girl to their family.  A year later, Helena earned her Master of Arts in Communication from Gonzaga University. Helena and her family enjoy weekend getaways to the Northeast Kingdom, playing outside, and trying new recipes.
