Secondhand Smoke Facts

Smoke Free Near Me

We want to help the community to better understand the significant health risks of exposure to
secondhand smoke. Research tells us that even breathing in secondhand smoke for a short
period of time has an immediate negative health impact. For this reason we are working with
local businesses and the community to increase the areas in Burlington that are designated
as “smoke free zones.”

As part of this effort we empowered 4 amazing local kids to create visual statements with facts
about secondhand smoke in Burlington! Watch them in action to learn more!

We receive permission for all business owners or public property before chalking.

Help us chalk the message!

We use non-toxic washable spray chalk! It washes away in the rain or with a little soap and water! Anyone can join our efforts!

To show your support you can volunteer with us and help chalk stencil at more locations around Burlington.

Please contact mariah@burlingtonpartnership.org or

324-3867, if you would like to help support our efforts.

The facts are clear, secondhand smoke is dangerous. But it can be really hard to ask someone to stop smoking around you. Wear this button to show your support or show that you want to be smoke-free without having to say a word.

"They [the buttons] are flying out as fast as you can put them in there. Hopefully
by the time these kids get to be our age it would be a smoke free world."

~Matt Lucia, YMCA Front Desk Staff
